Local Attractions
No visit to the Somerset Levels would be complete without seeing the Willows and Wetlands Centre at Stoke St Gregory. Basket weaving and other traditional crafts are on display in the free entry museum, but a guided tour really lets you see more about this local speciality.
The area to the east of Dunwear is the heartland of historic Wessex. Langport and Somerton are important towns dating back hundreds of years.
Bridgwater and Glastonbury
Famous as the home of Carnival, Bridgwater comes alive in early November. The largest illuminated carnival in Europe hits the streets with over 50 carts passing through.
Land of myth, ancient Avalon is dominated by the Tor, but get out around the town and visit other attractions. For shoppers, try Clarks Village. History buffs will love the museum of Somerset Rural Life or the Lake Village Museum.
Other great Somerset Things
Not far up the road is Cheddar Gorge. With great walking, caves and Wooky Hole to visit, it is a fine day out. And, don't forget the most famous part - the cheese!
Alongside willow trees, apple trees are equally as important to Somerset life. Try a glass or two of the local scrumpy to make your stay really go with a swing.
