We love welcoming new faces to the fishery, and we want your first visit to be a good one. Here is a quick run-down of what to expect and how to make the most of your day at The Sedges.
Before you arrive
There is no need to book for day-ticket fishing — just turn up and pay on the bank. If you are planning a match or a caravan stay, it is best to call ahead on 01278 445221. Make sure you have a valid Environment Agency rod licence too: anyone aged 13 or over needs one to fish for coarse fish in England, and it is quick and easy to buy online. It is separate from your fishery day ticket.
Looking after the fish
A few simple rules keep our fish healthy and our lakes fishing well:
- Barbless or micro-barbed hooks only.
- A landing net and unhooking mat for every angler.
- No keepnets except in matches.
You will find the full list on our fishery rules page and on the notice board on site. They are all common-sense measures that protect the fish and keep the fishing good for everyone.
Facilities on site
There is on-site parking, toilets and easy access to the lakes, so everything you need for a comfortable day is close to hand. If you are making a longer trip of it, our holiday caravans let you stay just yards from the water.
Choosing where to fish
We have three lakes to suit every angler. The Canal Lake is ideal for beginners and pleasure anglers, while Tile and Brick Lakes offer harder-fighting carp and a real challenge.
