Famous as the home of Carnival, Bridgwater comes alive in early November. The largest illuminated carnival in Europe hits the streets with over 50 carts passing through.

Land of myth, ancient Avalon is dominated by the Tor, but get out around the town and visit other attractions. For shoppers, try Clarks Village. History buffs will love the museum of Somerset Rural Life or the Lake Village Museum.

Not far up the road is Cheddar Gorge. With great walking, caves and Wooky Hole to visit, it is a fine day out. And, don’t forget the most famous part – the cheese!
