Kilve Beach

25 min from The Sedges

A quiet, rugged beach famous for its fossils and dramatic rock ledges, beneath the Quantock Hills.

Kilve is a wonderfully unspoilt stretch of coast, where wave-cut ledges and dark cliffs make it one of the best places in Somerset for fossil hunting. Ammonites are a common find among the rocks and pebbles.

A wild day out

It is a peaceful spot for a bracing walk, a picnic and a spot of rock-pooling, with the ruined chantry and pretty village just inland. Sturdy footwear is a good idea for the pebbly foreshore.

Kilve is around a 25-minute drive from the fishery, tucked beneath the Quantock Hills.
